Craig McEwen
Craig McEwen is Dean for Academic Affairs and the
Daniel B. Fayerweather Professor of Political Economy and
Sociology at Bowdoin College where he has taught since 1975. He
graduated from Oberlin College in 1967 and earned his M. A.
(1969) and Ph. D. (1975) from Harvard University. He taught at
Morgan State College from 1968-1972. His interest in ADR began
in 1978 when he was trained as a mediator and in the early
1980's he served as a small claims and domestic relations
mediator for Maine's Court Mediation Service. For the past
twenty years he has done empirical research and written about
mediation and dispute resolution in varied settings: small
claims, community, divorce, civil courts, corporations,
administrative agencies, public policy, and appellate courts.
With Nancy Rogers, he is the co-author of Mediation: Law, Policy
and Practice. He has served on the editorial board of the
Dispute Resolution Magazine and has consulted with courts
throughout the United States about dispute resolution programs.
At present he is completing a book titled Divorce Lawyers at
Work: Varieties of Professionalism in Practice. |
