Lee Thomas
Lee Thomas is President and Chief Executive Officer of
Rayonier, Inc., a leading international forest products company
structured as a Real Estate Investment Trust with global core
businesses in timber, real estate, and performance fibers. Prior
to joining Rayonier as a member of the Board of Directors in
June 2006, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of
Georgia-Pacific from 2002 to 2005.
Before he joined Georgia-Pacific, Lee served as chairman and
chief executive officer for Law Companies Environmental Group.
He is a former administrator of the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and has also held leadership positions with
the Federal Emergency Management Agency and with the Office of
the Governor of South Carolina.
Over the years, Lee has been active in a variety of industry,
government and environmental organizations. He currently serves
on the boards of directors of RESOLVE and Airgas, Inc. His
honors include the 1988 Conservation Achievement Award from the
National Wildlife Federation, the 1991 René Dubos Environmental
Award and the 2000 National Conference for Community Justice
National Brotherhood Award. In October 2001, he will receive the
Environmental Law Institute Award recognizing his two decades of
vision and leadership in environmental law, policy and
management. Lee is a native of Ridgeway, South Carolina, and
earned his master’s degree from the University of South
Carolina. |
