Research & Evaluation
Details
In the past 30 years, environmental and public
policy dispute resolution has emerged as a powerful
way to devise practical solutions to real problems
by harnessing the knowledge and insights of diverse
stakeholders. Many thousands of cases have been
mediated, representing a wide variety of
environmental and public issues. Most states and
federal agencies have used environmental dispute
resolution processes in one or more administrative
or judicial processes.
Despite the tremendous growth in the number of
cases mediated and the beginnings of
institutionalization in a variety of settings,
however, the environmental dispute resolution field
has done less well at documenting its successes and
challenges and at using research to inform practice. |
