Definition of Civil Society Organizations
Civil society organizations (CSOs) are
understood to include any independent non-profit
organization of individuals working toward a
common objective whose mandate is relevant to
the purpose and objectives of the fund which is
governed by the Trust Fund Committee or
Sub-Committee for which observers are being
selected. This includes large international NGOs
as well as national and community-based
organizations (CBOs). The selection process will
determine whether or not a particular
organization is recognized as a CSO.
