Consensus Building Concepts and Principles
The terms “consensus building” or “alternative dispute
resolution” (ADR) are often used interchangeably to refer to a
collection of procedural options for settling disputes (or
building consensus on solutions to controversial problems),
generally involving the assistance of a neutral. Most often,
these are voluntary processes in which the participants seek a
mutually acceptable resolution of their differences. Key
